INTRODUCTION
The Department offers B.Tech degree course in Information Technology with an annual intake of 60 students. The department has always strived to inculcate the very best in the students so that they can face the challenges offered by the industry. With globalization of the Indian economy, vast opportunities of growth have been thrown open for the computer software and hardware industry. Besides imparting theoretical knowledge, a lot of stress is laid on hands-on training and overall, development of the individual's personality.
The competence of the department is reflected in the growing demand for its fresh graduates. The number of recruiting companies has multiplied many fold in the last few years. The department strongly believes that neither the industry, nor the academics alone have the resources to adequately deal with the quest for innovative excellence in this field of computers, for global competitiveness.Equal importance is given to the classroom learning which is meant primarily for the theoretical or conceptual inputs of knowledge on a variety of projects. The department has excellent computing facilities which include Pentium based computer systems, scanners, servers, etc.
HOD Profile Ms. Chander Prabha M.E (CSE & IT), B.Tech(CSE) Engineering involves the organization of scientific, technical, practical and managerial knowledge for the purposes of solving in an orderly manner the many kinds of technical and practical problems which society is continually facing. The increasing complexity of the methods requirements for satisfying the requirements of society has brought with it the requirement of corresponding specialization in the field Information Technology at Engineering level. A graduate engineer from Information Technology department has sufficient knowledge of science and technology, and an appreciation of different kinds of technical skills which enable him/her to identify problems and to design and plan solutions for them.
The department gives exposure to its students, to not only the regular Engineering curriculum but also to the aspirations of today's corporate world, by inculcating a professional attitude in them. Our labs, give our students a cutting edge in technical exploration and enhance their information search and analysis skills. The project which is an important part of their curriculum, not only gives them a chance to understand and explore their area of interest, but it will be an important aspect in their contribution to the company they would join after the degree. Students are encouraged to join various technical and non-technical forums, which in turn gives them horizontal exposure to Engineering concepts and technology. In every semester along with regular theory courses students have to take at least 5/6 laboratory courses which instill confidence in the student to handle practical problems in the field of engineering. After the fourth and sixth semesters, the students are sent for Industrial Training. This gives the students the exposure to work in the industrial environment. The department is ready to provide the industry with another young dynamic lot of engineers well equipped with the determination and the skill to excel in whatever they choose to do.
I wish all the students, alumni, and faculty of the department a great success for their future.

Laboratories and Equipments
Practical training marks the high point of the curriculum of the Department of Information Technology, with the following facilities being provided to the students by means of a consortium of laboratories shared by related departments and courses, to ensure intensive interaction amongst students of different yet related fields.
Laboratories:
- Computation and Networking Lab
Practical courses on C, C++, Visual C++, Computer Communication Networks and Network Technology are held in the Computation and Networking Lab. The lab is well equipped with Pentium-4 based systems as well as switches.
- Multimedia and Graphics Lab
This lab provides for practical courses in Internet, Computer Graphics, Multimedia & virtual reality, Server-side Programming, Web Designing. The students are exposed to Windows and Linux environments.
- Microprocessors Lab
This lab equipped with Microprocessor kits of the Intel 8085, 8086, 8088 families and provides for hands-on training in microprocessor programming and application.
- Data Structures & Programming Methodology
Relevant hardware and software are available for algorithm development in all areas of data structures. Emphasis is given on the following matters. Development of recursive as well as non recursive a algorithms involving linked list trees and graphs. Use of pointers for dynamic allocations of storage. Development of classes for some of the data structures using the concept of abstract data types.
The computing facility labs have software and utilities such as the Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 98, SCO Unix, Novell Netware, Oracle 8i, , MS-Office, MS Visual Studio, Borland C++, Turbo C++ Assembler, CorelDraw, Dbase etc.
