ZERO TOLERANCE TO RAGGING
Latest UGC Guidelines June 17, 2009 under directions from The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India
RAGGING CONSTITUTES
Asking any student to do any act which a fresher or a junior student will not in the ordinary course do and which has effect of causing or generating sense of shame or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or any other student. Asking for introduction from a fresher shall also be considered as a ragging.
Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness which causes psychological harm or raises fear or apprehension in a fresher or a junior student
Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it e.g. sexual abuse, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily and mentally harm or any other danger to health of any junior student
PUNISHMENTS
1. Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period
2. Rustication from the University for period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters.
3. Suspension/ expulsion from the hostel
4. Fine ranging between Rs.25000/- to rupees one Lakh
