INTRODUCTION
With the advent of electricity in 18th century originated the term  "Electrical Engineer". Faraday and Maxwell were probably the first Electrical Engineers. Electrical engineers are working today in all areas of our modern information society. Technologies such as the internet and the cellular phone, Communication and navigation satellites high performance computers power plants and high voltage networks renewable energy and robotics- in all these fields research development and production innovation was strongly influenced by Electrical engineers in responsible positions. Employment perspectives are excellent as not only in India but also in Western Europe and the United States of America, where there is a shortage of qualified electrical engineers. From the production of power in power plant and the distribution in high power network to the customer with his PC in his house hold or office it is electrical engineering life that influences our daily in mostly pleasant ways.

Electrical engineering thus is a very broad field, ranging from all aspect of information processing, power, production and power distribution. The main areas are Electrical Machines, Electrical Power Generation transmission and distribution, Electronics (including micro, opto and power electronics) communication technology, microprocessor, power system, Real Time Systems, Neural Networks and Fuzzy Systems etc.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The curriculum of dept. of Electrical Engineering, SDDIET, which is affiliated to kurukshetra University, is  delicately designed to provide engineering graduates, consummate knowledge and skill required for a successful carrier in the field of Electrical Engineering. The course is at par with changing technology and enables the students to easily manage to multifarious environmental teams.

The courses for the undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering are divided in eight semesters with 5-6 courses in each semester. The courses range from Electrical Power to Computer Aided Power System Analysis and Design, Analog Electronics to Advanced programming, Digital Electronics, Microprocessor, Microcontroller and Data Structure to circuit simulation, Control System.  Along   with technical courses. Management principles and corporate laws and also taught to students to acquaint them to the industrial principles. Environment science is also taught to make students  environment conscious.

Throughout the four year program students are encouraged to use their creativity and problem solving skills to explore and think about the unique problems in the world of electrical and computer engineering. Furthermore students discuss some of the ethical dilemmas that are associated with engineering in general and how these problems relate to our social commitment. Students are given a wide degree of freedom to investigate design and build a project of their choice. The course major project design allows students to apply their newly acquired technical skills to a full year major  project. Industrial visits are organized from time to time to make students aware of practical industrial knowledge.

Moreover students are required to undergo industrial training of six weeks and eight weeks after 4th and 6th semester respectively which acquaints them with actual working atmosphere of industries.

Electrical Engineering Department of this college is one of the most versatile department with very efficient and highly qualified faculty. The dedicated  faculty is in position to impart quality  teaching to the students.The primary objective of Electrical  Department is to impart quality education and training in area of Electrical Engineering. This department was started in year 2001 with an intake of 60 students and has grown tremendously.

Our modern teaching techniques ensure high  quality education to B.Tech students with various well equipped departmental Laboratories like:

Electrical Technology Lab
Electrical Technology Lab is well equipped with approximately Ten Trainer Kits, Ten Transformers and various volt meters , Ammeters And Watt meters, Energy meters for performing  various experiments in the Lab under the guidance of  Lab Technician  Mr. Rakesh, Lecturer Er. Megha and Lecturer Aseem Goyal.

Electrical Machine Lab
Machine Lab Of  this department is equipped with different types of motors & Generators i.e. D.C., A.C. , Induction  $ Synchronous , MG Sets, Various Control Panels, Different  types of connecting loads i.e. resistive , inductive, capacitive loads. These  are helpful for the students to gain the practical Knowledge.about various machines by performing various experiments independently under the guidance of Senior Lab Technician Mr. Rakesh and  Lecturer Er. Harvinder Singh.

Control System Lab
Control Lab Of   Electrical Department  is well equipped with different types of Trainer Kits to perform Various  Experiments e.g. Speed control of AC &  DC motors, Servo motors, CRTs to view the wave forms and calculate the Various parameters of Experiments. under the guidance of Lab Technician Mr. Sunil, Lecturer  Er. Kavita and Lecturer Romy Kansal.

Network Analysis and Synthesis  Lab
Network Analysis and Synthysis  Lab of Electrical Department is equipped with no. of trainer Kits Such as Filters i.e. Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass,Band Stop, Charging and Discharging of Capacitors, Resonance kit i.e. Series and Parallel Resonance, CRTS to view the various waveforms and for the calculations of various parameters. which are helpful to increase the knowledge of students about the subjects under the guidance of Lab Technician Mr. Sunil and Lecturer  Er. Sushma Gupta

Electrical Measurement and Instrumentation  Lab
This Lab Of Electrical Department Consists of  various trainer Kits And  various types of Ammeters, Voltmeters, Watt meters, Energy meters,  Earth Tester, Magger ,Bridges, Rehostats, Multimeters etc. For performing various  experiments Under the guidance of Senior Lab Technician Mr. M. L.Dora  and Lecturer Er. Arvind Singhy.

Power Electronics Lab
Power Electronics Lab Of this Department Modern Trainer Kits,&     CRO's,Which are useful  to increase the Practicle knowledge of Students under the guidance of senior Lab Technician Mr. M. L.Dora   and Lecturer   Er. Sushma Gupta

This Lab Of Electrical Department equipped with different types of Relays and Their Related Panels, Parallel Running operation of Generators under the guidance of Lab Technician  Mr. Rakesh  and Lecturer  Er. Arun .

Micro-Processor and Micro-controller Lab
Micro-Processor and Micro-controller Lab of Electrical Department  consists of  Latest Technology   Trainer Kits And Computers  Knowledge of which is  helpful in Modern Industry and easy placement. of Students.They learn under the guidance of Lab Technician  Mr. Sunil  and Lecturer  Er. Sunil Kumar

Electric Drive Lab
Electric Drive Lab Of Electrical Engineering Department consists of AC , DC motors drive with different methods of drive such as voltage, Frequency, SCRs, Choppers, Dual Convertors, Thyristors for performing experiments and increase the knowledge of students of electronics components under the guidance of senior Lab Technician Mr. M. L.Dora  and  Lecturer Er. Arvind Singhy.
